Dr. Laila Garda is a medical doctor with MD in Public Health. She has more than 25 year’s experience in working in Rural areas and her interests are in Maternal and Child Health, Women’s empowerment and Adolescent health. Her passion is working for the underprivileged and her focus areas are in sex and sexuality, counselling, providing health education, parent child communication and care and support. She has worked with HIV positive people, sex workers, women who have faced violence and many other vulnerable groups. Dr. Garda is the Director of the KEM Hospital Research Centre Pune which is a registered trust and society with more than 30 years of service to the rural community in both health and social research. She is also a consultant to an NGO called Helplife In Pune working for empowerment of differently abled adolescent girls form low socio economic strata.
